Palmist and Editor

Palmist and Editor

This show imagines the different reading approaches of surfaces between a palmist (textures) and an editor (signs). It focuses on pairings within each painting, similar in composition but varied in their resulting legibility: physical marks sit next to graphic versions of themselves, structural layers weave through external layers, subdued colors overlap with louder counterparts. The works encourage a consideration of dueling reads simultaneously and questions how we parse out conflicting sets of information when deciphering a surface.
